Calling all Phoenix Mass Comm Alumni who have passed out from various nationally reputed Institutes(in any case, all Phoenixians are!) like IIMC, MASCOM IIJNM etc., after doing a one year Post Graduate Diploma in Mass Comm. and would like to obtain a fully recognised M.A. Degree in Mass Comm in one year :

The Karnataka State Open University (KSOU), Mysore is offering its M.A. in Mass Communication Degree to students/working journalists who have completed the one year programme from a reputed Institute like IIMC, MASCOM IIJNM etc., to directly join their M.A. Programme in the second year, as lateral entry candidates, and take the Final M.A. Exam in early July 2009 sitting for five papers only.The Post Graduate Diploma from these Institutes is considered as equivalent to their First Year of the M.A. Programme. One just has to attend a compulsory 5-day on campus contact programme/workshop either at Bangalore or Mysore (as chosen by the candidate) during the months of March-June 2008, before sitting for the M.A. Final Exam.

You are required to obtain the prospectus-cum-application forms through a request letter enclosing a DD for Rs. 200.00 (Rupees Two Hundred only), in the name of THE FINANCE OFFICER, KSOU and payable at MYSORE. The request letter should be addressed to

The fees chaged by the state-run University is indeed very reasonable. The study materials(excellent in quality and self-sufficient in content) will be sent by the University after admission by post.

Many queries from the Alumni has been received about information for such an M.A.Degree; and here is the opportunity which will open out windows to an academic pursuit, leading to an option of taking up teaching in the Media Institutes; which many Phoenixian Alumni had visioned for when they had joined Phoenix.
